Maria's Closet (Founder's Story)
Maria’s Closet is named after Maria Sauer, a former Executive Director who was instrumental in developing the center to a place where a person could come and find someone that would come alongside and provide information, options, hope, and advocacy. Maria had the vision to provide a place where clients could find the things they needed for their infants, free of charge, that were new or like new. A place that was nicely decorated, with items displayed in an appealing way. Volunteers would lend a hand in helping clients shop, and encourage new parents.
After Maria passed away her husband Paul saw that Maria’s dream became a reality. He and his crew remodeled what is now Maria’s Closet. If Maria were here she would be delighted. It is a beautiful boutique- a place where our clients love to come and shop and chat and spend their ‘care cash’ which they earned!
